In this session I outlined a multimodal approach to interaction analysis. I discussed how actions are sequentially and simultaneously organised, using examples from video recorded surgical activity in the operating theatre.

This presentation considers transcription within a multimodal methodology. It begins with an introduction to key issues surrounding multimodal transcription, shares examples of ways researchers have variously transcribed multimodal interaction, and suggests some recommendations for researchers.
