The kineikonic mode: Developing a multimodal theory of the moving image

This PhD project by Vic Hurr (supervised by Andrew Burn) examines the topic of The Kineikonic Mode with a focus on digital moving image media. The topic: movement and the Kineikonic mode, refers to a proposal for a new theory and methods of moving image semiotics first proposed by Burn and Parker (2003). The aim is to develop the theory through an interdisciplinary practice of art-led and empirical methods that can orchestrate the multimodal grammars of moving image texts within art and architectural spaces.
